The Honda NC30 (officially the VFR400R) is an iconic 400cc sportbike produced between 1989 and 1992. Often called the "Baby RC30," it was a scaled-down version of Honda's legendary RC30 superbike, mimicking its professional race styling and high-end engineering. The NC30 is renowned for its high-revving, gear-driven cam engine and sophisticated chassis:
Engine Type: 399cc liquid-cooled, 90° V4, DOHC, 16-valve. Power Output: Approximately 59 bhp (41.3 kW) @ 12,800 rpm. Torque: ~28.8 lb-ft (39 Nm) @ 12,000 rpm. Top Speed: Roughly 130–135 mph (indicated). Redline: An impressive 14,500 rpm. Weight: ~164 kg dry / ~182 kg wet. Distinctive Features: Single-sided "Pro-Arm" swingarm for easy rear wheel changes. Gear-driven cams that produce a unique, high-pitched "whistle" or "roar". Tall first gear (mimicking racing gearboxes), which requires clutch slip to launch smoothly. 18-inch rear wheel, which provides planted handling.
